ALUN SAMPURASUN HOTEL KUNINGAN

Residential

The design concept for the resort in Kuningan, West Java, is deeply inspired by the traditional Sundanese greeting Salam Sampurasun, which embodies warmth and spirituality. This philosophy aligns perfectly with the hospitality typology of the resort, where guests seek not only physical comfort but also spiritual tranquility. The resort is envisioned as a sanctuary that allows visitors to escape the urban hustle and reconnect with their inner selves, embracing a serene environment that fosters both relaxation and self-discovery.

Architectural and Spatial Design

The resort’s design is influenced by the traditional Alun-Alun (public square) concept, creating a central open space that unifies the surrounding buildings and aligns with the natural features of the landscape. The amphitheater, crafted from distinctive red bricks, serves as the focal point of the resort. Positioned to offer panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, it functions both as a central gathering space and as practical facilities, including storage and poolside toilets.

Kuningan’s reputation for high-quality water and its cultural association with fish therapy inspired the inclusion of reflecting ponds around the resort, featuring ikan dewa (sacred fish) that provide therapeutic benefits for visitors. The use of natural materials such as red brick, shingle roofing, exposed concrete, and wood enhances the guest experience, bringing them closer to nature and reinforcing the resort’s connection to its environment.

The concept of Alun + Sampurasun aims to achieve a harmonious balance of space, tranquility, and comfort. This is accentuated by the intimate “2 Intimate Walls” design gesture, which creates a welcoming atmosphere throughout the landscape and within the buildings. Guests will experience a “spatial journey” that mirrors the refreshing and respectful nature of the Salam Sampurasun greeting, encouraging a deeper appreciation for themselves, their surroundings, and the Creator.
