SHOPPING ECO FOREST KUNINGAN

Commercial

The project is a unique shopping complex located in Kuningan, West Java, Indonesia, nestled amidst a scenic backdrop of forests, a zoo, a resort, and additional commercial spaces. This innovative development aims to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings while offering a vibrant shopping and recreational experience. The design is guided by the concept titled “Lebak, Leuweung, Langit”, which translates to Valley, Forest, and Sky.

Concept Description:

LEBAK – “Dialog with the Landscape”:
The design focuses on creating a harmonious relationship with the land and surrounding forest, which will eventually be part of a zoo. The building’s structure is inspired by the shape of a valley, making it blend with the landscape. The mall is designed to appear as though it is gently sloping down, with the highest part of the building resembling a single-story structure with a slanted roof. This design allows for unobstructed views from both the outdoor and indoor viewing decks, offering visitors a scenic view of the valley, forest, and zoo.

LEUWEUNG – “Man-Made Forest with Biophilic Design”:
The mall features a “biophilic” design, which means it incorporates elements that connect people to nature. A distinctive feature is the greenhouse-like roof, which sits above the main shopping area and supports a “man-made forest” below. This roof helps create a lush, green environment inside the building. Additional biophilic elements include water features at the entrance, natural ventilation and lighting, the use of wooden materials, and panoramic views of the surrounding nature from within the mall.

LANGIT – “Views and Connection to the Sky”:
The building is designed to be integrated into its surroundings with a “sunken” appearance and a sloping waffle-like roof. This roof not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also provides natural light inside the mall, taking advantage of Kuningan’s cool climate. The outdoor terrace and viewing deck, accessible at all times, offer public spaces where visitors can enjoy the natural beauty and the night sky of Kuningan.

Cultural Philosophy:

The three key elements—Valley, Forest, and Sky—reflect the hope that this shopping complex will promote both physical and spiritual well-being. This design aligns with the cultural philosophy of Kuningan, known as Tri Panca Tunggal, which emphasizes a connection to the natural and spiritual world. The project aims to enhance the community’s prosperity and well-being by blending commerce with the natural environment.
